Count citations in Google AI Overviews

inspect_ai_visibility checks a domain against a sampled corpus of Google AI Overviews. It returns the domain's citation count and sample questions where the site appears as a source.

The metric is tied to a domain citation. It does not mix in brand mentions or estimated sentiment, so a result answers a specific question: how often did Google AI Overviews cite this site in the observed corpus?

Coverage currently includes Google AI Overviews only. It does not include ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, or Copilot. Because the corpus is sampled, changes over time should be treated as directional rather than as a record of what every user saw.

Compare against competitors

Add up to nine competitor domains to inspect_ai_visibility for a ranked comparison. The result shows each domain's citation count, share of citations, and the gap between your site and the leader.

Use domains rather than brand names. A domain identifies the source precisely, while a brand name can appear in unrelated answers.

A citation count of zero is still useful. Your agent can report the zero, then use discover_ai_citations to show which domains are being cited instead.
